ABSTRACT: In addition to being a mirror of society, literature has also been an area where each nation creates and reflects its own identity against the other. The argument of us versus the other, which is important in identity creation, is perhaps most pronounced in literary works. For this reason, the image of the "other" has been created against the identity of "us" in all genres of literature. These are the images that the author reveals by being directly or indirectly affected by his society. In this context, this thesis focuses on the Turkish image created as the "other" in the novels of Kurdish writer Mehmed Uzun, who was born in Turkey and spent a long period of his life in the diaspora. He wrote his works in Kurdish between the 1980s, when a harsh political atmosphere prevailed in Turkey, and the 2000s, when a relatively softer political atmosphere prevailed. His novels cover the period of the collapse of the Ottoman Empire and the establishment of the Turkish Republic in terms of content. The period in which the novels were written and the narrative took place is important in that it touches two striking points in the political history of Turkey. The image of the dominant other Turk created in the works has the quality to answer the following questions in image studies: Under what conditions were the images in the works created and what kind of ideological and social problems did they answer? Therefore, Uzun's novels have been examined by considering the critical historical, social and political processes.
