Ayasofya örneği üzerinden mimarlıkta retorik

Abstract

ÖZET: Bu tez, mimarlıkta retorik tartışmasını Ayasofya örneği üzerinden incelemektedir. Burada retorik tanımı, Franco Moretti'nin ele aldığı biçimle kullanılmıştır. Tez boyunca bu tanım açıklanmış ve edebiyat teorisinden mimarlık bağlamına doğru genişletilmiştir. Ayasofya, bu tanımın genişletilmesinde bir vaka olarak irdelenmiştir. Resmi belgeler, günlük gazeteler, sinema filmleri, gezi yazıları gibi çeşitli mecralar bu irdeleme içinde ele alınmıştır. Bu incelemelerde temel olarak mimarlık disiplini genelinde neden retoriğe ihtiyaç duyulduğu ve bu retoriğin Ayasofya özelinde ne şekilde çeşitlendiği incelenmiştir.ABSTRACT: This thesis examines the discussion of rhetoric in architecture through the example of Hagia Sophia. Here, the definition of rhetoric is used in a way to match with Franco Moretti's definition of the term. Throughout the thesis, this definition has been extended from literary theory to architecture. Hagia Sophia has been taken as a case in expanding this definition. Various documents such as official documents, daily newspapers, cinema films, and travel articles were discussed to highlight the issue. In these investigations, the reason why rhetoric is needed in architecture and how it differs for the monumental structure has been questioned.
