Özet
ÖZET: Bu tezin amacı mültecilere yönelik ruh sağlığı desteği dışında destek sunmayı hedefleyen insani yardım çalışanlarının dolaylı travma deneyimlerini incelemektir. Araştırmada, katılımcıların hizmet verdikleri alanda mülteci grubuyla çalışmalarından dolayı travmatik hikayelerle karşılaşabilecekleri düşünülmüş, kişilerin bu hikayeleri nasıl deneyimledikleri, bu hikayelerden nasıl etkilendikleri ve ortaya çıkabilecek etkilerle nasıl baş ettikleri anlaşılmaya çalışılmıştır. Bu etkilerin incelenebilmesi için nitel bir çalışma yöntemi belirlenmiştir. Belirlenen çalışma yöntemi doğrultusunda mültecilere ruh sağlığı alanı dışında destek vermeye çalışan 13 katılımcı ile görüşmeler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Görüşmeler yarı yapılandırılmış sorulardan oluşmuştur. Görüşmeler sonucunda elde edilen veriler tematik analiz yöntemi ile analiz edilmiştir. Bu analiz sonucunda “duygular”, “değişimler”, “işin tatmin edici yanları”, “işin yorucu yanları” ve “baş etme” olmak üzere beş ana tema ortaya çıkmıştır. Belirtilen temalar literatürde yer alan çalışmalar doğrultusunda tartışılmıştır.
ABSTRACT: The main purpose of this thesis was to examine the experiences of humanitarian aid workers working with refugees outside the field of mental health. Specifically, the research wanted to explore experiences of humanitarian aid workers, effects of traumatic stories on humanitarian aid workes and coping mechanisms which are developed as a result of vicarious trauma. A qualitative approach was used to achieve this goal. Semi- structured interviewed were conducted with 13 humanitarian aid workers outside of mental health area. The interviews was analyzed through Thematic Analysis. As a result of the analysis, five super- ordinate themes emerged which were “emotions” “changes” “satisfying aspects of job” “tiring parts of the job” “coping with tiring parts of the job”
