COVID-19 pandemi sürecinde yetişkin bireylerin korku düzeylerinin sağlıklı yeme indeksleri ve duygusal yeme davranışlarının üzerindeki etkisinin incelenmesi

Özet
ÖZET: COVID-19 pandemi sürecinin başlaması ile birlikte, birçok ülkede salgını durdurmak ve ilerlemesini önlemek amaçlı farklı politikalar uygulanmaktadır. Uygulanan politikalar, salgın sürecinin uzaması, enfeksiyonun hızlı bulaşması ve ölümcül risk nedeni ile bireylerde COVID-19 korkusu deneyimi sık gözlenebilmektedir. COVID-19 döneminde yaşanan stres, korku gibi duygu deneyimleri bireylerin beslenme davranışlarını etkileyebilmektedir. Yetersiz beslenme veya duygusal yeme davranışı özellikle bu dönemlerde sık gözlenebilmektedir. Bu çalışmadaki amaç ise; COVID-19 pandemi döneminde yetişkin bireylerin korku seviyelerinin, sağlıklı yeme indeksleri ve duygusal yeme davranışları üzerindeki etkisini incelemektir. Çalışma 15 Ekim 2020-30 Kasım 2020 tarihleri arasında, Proclinic Estetik ve Güzellik Merkezi’ne başvuran 18-65 yaş arası yetişkin 150 birey üzerinde yapılmıştır. Bireylerin genel özellikleri, besin tüketim sıklıkları, pandemi dönemindeki korku durumları, duygusal yeme durumları anket formu ile değerlendirmesi yapılmış, 24 saatlik geriye dönük besin tüketim kayıtları detaylı bir şekilde alınarak bireylerin sağlıklı yeme indeksleri ve diyet kaliteleri saptanmıştır. Bireylerin COVID-19 korku seviyeleri ile sağlıklı yeme indeksleri toplam puanları arasında anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmuştur (p<0,048, r=0,161). Bireylerin COVID-19 korku seviyeleri arttıkça, diyet kalitelerinde iyileşme ve puan artışı tespit edilmiştir. Çalışmamızda bireylerin COVID-19 korku seviyeleri ile duygusal yeme davranışı arasında anlamlı bir ilişki saptanmıştır (p<0,01, r=0,225). Sonuç olarak COVID-19 korkusunun, bireylerin sağlıklı yeme indekslerine ve duygusal yeme davranışlarına etkisinin kesin sonuçlarını için daha fazla çalışmaya ihtiyaç duyulmaktadır.
ABSTRACT: With the start of the COVID-19 pandemic process, it implements different policies in many countries to stop the epidemic and prevent its progress. Due to policies implemented, the prolongation of the epidemic process, the rapid transmission of the infection and the fatal risk, the experience of the of COVID-19 can be observed frequently in individuals. Emotional experiences such as stress and fear experienced during the COVID-19 period can affect the nutritional behavior if individuals. Malnutrition or emotional eating behavior can be observed frequently, esprecially during these periods. The aim of this study is; to examine the effect of fear levels of adult individuals on healthy eating index and emotional eating behaviors during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study is was conducted on 150 adults aged 18-65 who applied to Proclinic Aesthetics and Beauty Center between 15 October 2020 and 30 November 2020. The general characteristics of the individuals, their food consumption frequency, their fear during the pandemic period, their emotional eating status were evaluated with a questionnaire, and the healthy eating index and diet quality of the individuals wew determined by taking the 24-hour retrospective food consumption records in detail. A significiant correlation was found between individuals’ COVID-19 fear levels and healthy eating index total scores (p<0,048, r=0,161). As individuals COVID-19 fear levels increased, improvement and score increase in their diet quality were detected. In our study, a significant relationship was found between individuals fear of COVID-19 and emotional eating behavior (p<0,01, r=0,225). As a result, it needs more studies to determine the definitive results of the effect of COVID-19 fear on healthy eating indexes and emotional eating behaviors of individuals
