dc.description.abstractDavid Cronenberg bugüne kadar body horror türünün önde gelen yönetmenlerinden biri olarak tanınmaktaydı. Oysa 2002 yılında çekilen Örümcek (2002, David Cronenberg) David Cronenberg'in sinemasında büyük bir değişime işaret ediyordu. Çünkü yönetmenin önceki filmleri canavarımsı yaratıkların, korkutucu bilimsel buluşların ve kaotik olayların hüküm sürdüğü ve Sembolik sistemin tamamen çöktüğü fantastik dünyalarda geçerken, Örümcek klasik Cronenberg filmlerinin kaotik ortamını terk etmek için bir çözüm önerisi ortaya atıyordu. Böylelikle Örümcek, Cronenberg filmlerinin izleyenler üzerinde yarattığı alışıldık beklentileri değiştirirken, yönetmenin Örümcek'ten sonra gelen iki filmi, Şiddetin Tarihçesi (2005, David Cronenberg) ve Şark Vaatleri (2007, David Cronenberg) de bu yeni yaklaşımı destekliyordu. Bu tez David Cronenberg'in Örümcek, Şiddetin Tarihçesi ve Şark Vaatleri isimli son üç filminin metin çözümlemesini yaparken, Cronenberg'in anlatısında sezilen değişimi inceler. Psikanaliz metodolojisini kullanan bu tez, Cronenberg'in anlatısında sezilen değişimin, yönetmenin önceki filmleri Sembolik yasaların bütünüyle ortadan kalkması ile sonuçlanırken son üç filminin Sembolik sisteme yaptığı vurgudan kaynaklandığını ortaya atar. Bu doğrultuda, David Cronenberg'in anlatısındaki gizemli değişimin nedenini çözmeye uğraşan bu tez, yönetmenin son üç filmini anlatılarında yer alan Sembolik yasa koyucuları belirlemek için analiz eder.en_US
dc.description.abstractDavid Cronenberg has been known as a leading director of body horror genre for a very long time. When he shot Spider (2002, David Cronenberg) in the year of 2002, it turns out to be a big transformation because whereas the former films of the director usually set in fantastic worlds full of monstrous creatures, horrific scientific discoveries and chaotic events where the Symbolic system totally collapse, Spider unusually shows a way out of the chaotic settings of classic Cronenberg films. In this way, Spider breaks all the common expectations from a Cronenberg film and the coming works of the director such as A History of Violence (2005, David Cronenberg) and Eastern Promises (2007, David Cronenberg) preserve this `new approach. This dissertation makes textual analyses of the last three films of David Cronenberg, Spider, A History of Violence and Eastern Promises and examines the transformation of Cronenbergs narratives. By using a psychoanalytical methodology, it claims that the main reason of the transformation in Cronenbergs narratives is his last three films emphasis on the Symbolic order whereas the former films of the director ends with the ultimate destruction of the Symbolic laws. In this manner, the dissertation tries to solve the mystery of the transformation in David Cronenbergs narratives and analyzes the films in order to determine the Symbolic law makers within the diegetic worlds.en_US
