A MCDM Method for Measuring Digital Capability Maturity Based on Linguistic Variables and Fuzzy Integral
(Springer International Publishing Ag, 2022) Chen, Chen-Tung; Ova, Alper; Hung, Wei-Zhan
Digital transformations are risky and difficult missions so that the managers should be supported with suitable assessment tools. In fact, enterprises must understand the digital capabilities before they implement the digital transformation strategies. Maturity model (MM) is an effective and useful tool to evaluate the initial status of digital capabilities of the company appropriately. But, the maturity of digital capabilities must evaluate the maturity level by multiple experts with respect to multiple influenced factors in the evaluation process. Due to experts always are difficult to use the crisp values to indicate their evaluation values, it is reasonable way to express their opinions by using the linguistic variables. Besides, there are some degree of interaction and dependence among influenced factors, this paper proposed a systematic method to measure digital capability maturity based on linguistic variables and fuzzy integral. Finally, an example used to explain the computational steps to verify the effectiveness of the digital capability maturity model.

ABSTRACT: Banking industry is indisputably the biggest part of the financial sector in Turkey. Regarding the importance of banking industry, this study aimed to investigate the financial performance of Turkish banking industry for the period between 2012 and 2019 using TOPSIS method. For this purpose, firstly ten banks, which had the highest amount of assets, were ranked using eight criteria since these banks represent a great percentage of the banking industry. Secondly, bank ownership types were analyzed and ranked. The results indicate that there is a decline in the performance of state owned banks. Foreign banks founded in Turkey seemed to be the best performing bank type in the last three years. Moreover, in this set of ten banks, the best bank from 2012 to 2017 was a state owned bank, the best bank in 2018 was a foreign bank founded in Turkey and the best bank in 2019 was a privately owned bank.

EVALUATION OF TURKISH FACTORING COMPANY PERFORMANCES USING TOPSIS METHOD
(Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart Üniversitesi, 2022) Ova, Alper
Most of the studies aiming to measure the financial performance of financial sector have handled banks, insurance companies, and pension companies. Factoring industry has been mostly neglected, although this industry is in an ascending trend in the World. The aim of this study is to evaluate the financial performance of Turkish factoring companies for the years between 2017 and 2019. This study also aims to be the first study, which examines all companies in the Turkish factoring industry, and to give an idea about sizes of those companies. For this purpose, TOPSIS method was implemented using equally weighted six criteria. The number of small companies in the best performing ten factoring companies was seven, five and six in 2019, 2018 and 2017 respectively. If the big and small companies are examined separately, it was observed that the number of companies owned by banks is increasing in the best performing ten big factoring companies. Since the number of factoring companies owned by banks is increasing in the best performing ten big factoring companies, small factoring companies should find ways to cooperate with banks if they desire to increase their size of operations.|Most of the studies aiming to measure the financial performance of financial sector have handled banks, insurance companies, and pension companies. The Performance of Deposit Banks in Turkey

The Performance of Deposit Banks in Turkey
    (2020) Ova, Alper
This paper investigates the performance of Turkish deposit banks using Stochastic Frontier Analysis during the period from 2011 to 2018. The study also investigates the effect of four inputs and eight inefficiency effects such as banks size (small or large), ownership (state-owned or privately-owned; domestic or foreign), being established in Turkey, time, TL/active/Total active, Liquid active/Total active, Total Compensation/Number of staff. Battese and Coelli (1995) model was implemented since it is a popular method and it deals with unbalanced panel data and gives the inefficiency effects. The findings indicate that large banks show better performances than their small counterparts, being established in Turkey has a positive effect on the performance of deposit banks, paying more compensation to employees may not increase the efficiency of banks, being state-owned or privately-owned does not have a significant effect on the inefficiency and being a foreign bank decreases the inefficiency of banks. Time has a positive effect on the inefficiency of Turkish banking industry.
