Öğe Bir Sonbahar Hikayesi: Körler Okulu Yıllarım(2013) Kaliber, AlperBu makale, kabaca iki bölümden oluşmaktadır. İlk bölüm, yazarın ilkokulun ilk üç yılınıgeçirdiği ve o zamanlar İstinye'de bulunan İstanbul körler okulundaki anılarına ayrılmıştır.Yazar bu bölümde, hepsi de kendisi gibi görmeyen öğrencilerle birlikte ve yatılı okuduğukörler okulunun genel koşullarından, görmeyenlere özgü ders çalışma ve oyun oynama yöntemleriylebazı davranış kalıplarından ve görmeyen öğrencilerin baş etmek zorunda kaldıklarıçeşitli psikolojik zorluklardan söz etmektedir. Makalenin ikinci bölümü ise, günümüzdegörme engelli öğrencilerin eğitiminde gözlemlenen yapısal sorunları ve körler okullarınınkapatılma tehlikesini ele almaktadır. Körler okullarında bağımsız hareket derslerinin verilmemesi,tüm ilköğretim okullarında aynı müfredatın uygulanması politikası uyarınca bilgisayarve yoğun el sanatları ve müzik derslerinin kaldırılmaları, eğitim çağındaki görmeyenlerinyalnızca çok küçük bir kısmının eğitim alabilmesi, doğru yöntemlerle ve yetişmiş insan gücüdahil gerekli hazırlıklar yapılmadan kaynaştırmalı eğitime geçilmeye çalışılması ve bu kapsamdakörler okullarının kapatılmak istenmesi ve görmeyenlere eğitim veren öğretmenlerinyeterli bilgi ve deneyime sahip olmamaları bu sorunların başlıcaları arasındadır.Öğe Contextual and Contested: Reassessing Europeanization in the Case of Turkey(Sage Publications Ltd, 2013) Kaliber, AlperThis article introduces a novel conceptual/analytical framework to Europeanization studies. Its main aims are twofold: first, it problematizes the mainstream usage of the term Europeanization, and the notion of change that it has embraced, and second, it develops a fuller account of the impact of European integration on societies. An analytical distinction is drawn between EU-ization as a formal process of alignment with the EU's body of law and institutions, and Europeanization as a wider sociopolitical and normative context. The impact of Europeanization in a given society is heavily conditioned by the extent and the ways in which Europe is used as a context by domestic actors. To substantiate its arguments, the article focuses on the Turkish case, where Europeanization as a normative-political context has extensively been implicated in its modernization and nation-building processes as well as in recent domestic debates concerning the country's identity and future orientation.Öğe Encounters with Europe in an Era of Domestic and International Turmoil: Is Turkey a De-Europeanising Candidate Country?(Routledge Journals, Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2016) Aydin-Duezgit, Senem; Kaliber, AlperThis article provides a novel conceptual framework to understand the impact of the European Union on Turkish politics and policies in the aftermath of the opening of accession negotiations in 2005. It argues that the post-2005 developments in Turkey not only attest to lesser and more limited Europeanisation, but also entail a process that is increasingly gaining momentum in the country and which is referred to as 'de-Europeanisation'.Öğe Europeanization in Turkey: In Search of a New Paradigm of Modernization(Routledge Journals, Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2014) Kaliber, AlperThis study suggests that for the countries of Southern and Eastern Europe, that is, 'the semi-periphery of Europe' (Turkey, Greece, Portugal and the Central and Eastern European countries (CEECs)), Europeanization/modernization runs at the deeper sphere of the societal and in direct relation to the change in the nature of domestic politics. In those countries, Europeanization corresponds to a quest for a new paradigm of political modernity. This paper also reveals some inexorable methodological and epistemological parallels between the modernization theory of the 1950s and the current Europeanization literature.
