Kullanılan anahtar kelimeler “Child workers”, “child workers and psychological health”, “young workers and psychological health”dir.
Abstract: Aim: The aim of this review is to examine psychological health of child workers and related factors. Method: The original studies were accessed through PubMed, Cochrane, ScienceDirect and PsychInfo databases between 2000 and 2015 and through Scirus search engine between 2000 and 2013. “Child workers”, “child workers and psychological health”, “young workers and psychological health”, were used as the keywords. 11.174 studies, which have been originally written in English, were examined and 7 original articles were chosen from among them for this study. Findings: It was seen that all of these 7 studies on psychological health status of child workers have been carried out in undeveloped countries. The total number of samples of the researches included in the systematic review was 3989. There was a strong association between the psychological health problems and work related conditions such as long working hours, low social support level in workplace, not having weekly or annual leave, working uninsured and exposure to violence in workplace (p<0.001). Conclusion: Working environment and conditions lead to serious health problems in children. Despite the increase in child labour especially in developing countries, it was seen that there is not sufficient number of researches on protection and improvement of child workers’ health and on preventive strategies to keep them away from diseases. The compliance of working conditions with international standards should be ensured.
