Sürdürülebilir Modada Güncel Bir Yaklaşım : Vegan Deri A Current Approach in Sustainable Fashion: Vegan Leather

Abstract

20.y.y’nın yarısından itibaren gerek malzeme çeşitliliği gerekse teknik gelişmeler sayesinde tekstil yüzey oluşturma yöntemlerinde yeni ve güncel üretim teknikleri ortaya çıkmıştır. Bu üretim teknikleri, doğaya ve canlılara zarar vermeyen ekolojik, sürdürülebilir alternatifler sunmaktadır. Geliştirilen tekniklerden biri olan vegan deri; hayvanlardan elde edilen derinin yerine kullanılabilen ve bir çok hammadde ile elde edilen dokusuz yüzeylerin içerisinde yer almaktadır. Son dönemde tasarımcılar tarafından tercih edilen vegan deri kullanımı; dünyadaki hayvan kaynaklarının azalması, su tüketiminin artması, sera gazı gibi standart üretim yöntemleri ile ortaya çıkan olumsuz etkileri azaltmış ve canlı türcülüğüne karşı tavır olarak güncel sürdürülebilir bir alternatif olmuştur. Bu çalışmada, vegan deri ile ilgili literatür taraması yapıldıktan sonra elde edilen bilgiler sentezinde; kullanım alanları, üretim yöntemleri ve hammadde kaynakları doğrultusunda, hızlı tüketim anlayışına karşıt bir görüş olan sürdürülebilir modaya katkısı araştırılmıştır. Ayrıca vegan deri kullanılarak yapılan tasarımların örnekleri ile konunun görsel açıdan zenginliği desteklenecektir. Nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden biri olan eser analizi yöntemine başvurularak vegan deri üretimi doğrultusunda sürdürülebilirlik kavramı temel alınmıştır. Çalışmanın sınırlılığını üretilmiş vegan deri kumaşlar ve bunlardan yapılmış tasarımlar oluşturmaktadır. Bu araştırma tekstil üretim yöntemlerindeki geri dönüşüm, kaynakların doğru kullanımı, yavaş moda, ekolojik tekstil kavramlarına bir farkındalık geliştirilerek, vegan deri hakkında daha sonra yapılacak çalışmalara kaynak olacaktır.Since the half of the 20th century, new and current production techniques have emerged in textile surface creation methods thanks to both material diversity and technical developments. These production techniques offer ecological, sustainable alternatives that do not harm nature and living things. Vegan leather, one of the new techniques, is included in non-woven surfaces that can be used instead of leather obtained from animals with many raw materials. The use of vegan leather, which has been preferred by designers recently, has reduced the negative effects of standard production methods such as the decrease in animal resources in the world, the increase in water consumption, and greenhouse gasses. In addition, it has become a current sustainable alternative as an attitude against speciesism. In this study, the contribution of vegan leather to sustainable fashion, which is an opposing view to the understanding of fast consumption, has been researched in the direction of usage areas, production methods and raw material sources, in the synthesis of the information obtained after the literature review on vegan leather. In addition, examples of designs made using vegan leather will add visual richness to the subject. By applying the trace analysis method, which is one of the qualitative research methods, the concept of sustainability is based on vegan leather production. The limitation of the study is the produced vegan leather fabrics and the designs made from them. This research will be a source for later studies on vegan leather by developing an awareness of the concepts of recycling, proper use of resources, slow fashion, ecological textiles in textile production methods.
