| dc.description.abstract | ÖZET: İnsanlık tarihinin her döneminde insan yaşamı için doğrudan bir tehlike oluşturan yoksulluk, çağdaş toplumların da başlıca sorunlarından biri olarak karşımıza çıkıyor. En başından beri bireyin temel ihtiyaçları ve yaşam kalitesi göz önünde bulundurularak iktisadi çerçevede tanımlanmaya çalışan yoksulluk kavramı bugün iktisadi sınırlarını aşarak sosyolojik alanda da ele alınması gereken bir olgu olarak gündeme geliyor. Bu durum, tanımı ve sınırları güç olan yoksulluk kavramının daha da çetrefilli bir hal almasına neden olurken, kavramın değişik kriterlerle tekrar ele alınması gerektiğinin de altını çiziyor. Bu nedenle yoksulluk bugün birçok kavramla birlikte tarif edilmeye çalışılıyor. Kentsel yoksulluk kavramı da bu yeni yoksulluk kavramlarından biri olarak anılmaya başlıyor. Son yıllarda ekonomik faaliyetleri yönetmekten uzaklaşıp “modernleşme” adı altında büyük bir hızla değişim ve dönüşüm geçiren kentler, aynı hızla yeni yoksul kentlilerin oluşmasına da zemin hazırlıyor. Kentsel yoksulluk kavramı, yoksulluğu yokluk ve bedensel tehlike anlamlarının ötesinde sosyal bir mesele haline getiriyor. “Kayıp Yaşamlara Tanıklık: Türkiye’de Belgesel Fotoğraf ve Yoksulluğun Belgelenmesi” başlıklı bu çalışma kentsel yoksulluğun belgesel fotoğraf projelerindeki görünümüne odaklanıyor. 1990 sonrası Türkiye’sinde yoksulluğun belgesel fotoğraflardaki yansımasını ele alan çalışma, öncelikle fotoğrafın ne olduğu konusunu tartıştırıyor. Çalışmada, belgesel fotoğraf anlayışının toplumsal işlevinden yola çıkılarak bu konuda geçmişte yapılmış dünyadaki etkili örnekler inceleniyor. Türkiye’de yeni nesil belgesel fotoğrafın kentsel yoksulluğu nasıl gösterdiği ve temsil ettiği konusuna odaklanan çalışma, ele aldığı örnekleri; kentsel dönüşüm projeleri kapsamında dönüştürülen mahalleler, Tarlabaşı semti ve Edirne Menzilahir bölgesi çerçevesinde sınırlandırıyor. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | ABSTRACT: Poverty, which poses a direct danger to human life in every period of human history, is also one of the major problems of contemporary societies. The concept of poverty, which has been tried to be defined in the economic framework by considering the basic needs of the individual and the quality of life from the beginning goes beyond the economic boundaries and comes to the agenda as a phenomenon that should be dealt with in the sociological field. This situation makes the concept of poverty, whose definition and limits are difficult, become more complicated and underlines that the concept should be reconsidered with different criteria. For this reason, poverty is being tried to be described with various terms today. The concept of urban poverty is also beginning to be called as one of these new concepts of poverty. In recent years, cities that have moved away from managing economic activities and have undergone rapid changes and transformations under the name of modernization, are preparing the ground for new poor citizens. The concept of urban poverty makes poverty a social issue beyond the meaning of neediness and bodily danger. This work, titled “Testimony to the Lost Lives: Documentary Photograph in Turkey and Documentation of Poverty”, focuses on the image of urban poverty in documentary photography projects. The study first discusses what photography is and then examines the influential examples in the world while focusing on the social function of the documentary photography. The study further focuses on how a new generation of documentary photography in Turkey shows and represents the urban poverty, and limits the examples in the framework of neighborhoods transformed under urban transformation projects, namely the Tarlabaşı district and Edirne the Menzilahir region. | en_US |
