35 Yıl Sonra Gediz Depremi: Depremin, Yaşayanlar ve İki Yerleşme Üzerindeki Etkileri

Abstract

Türkiye Bilimler Akademisi - Türkiye Kültür Sektörü TÜBA-TÜKSEK kapsamında 2005 yılında gerçekleştirilen Eskigediz Sözlü Tarih Belgeleme çalışmasının konusu, Kütahya ili, Gediz ilçesi, Eskigediz beldesinde eski adı Gediz 1970 yılında meydana gelen deprem ve bunun sonucunda yerleşmenin yeni alana taşınmasının süreci ve etkileridir.Konu ile ilgili 30 sözlü tarih görüşmesi gerçek­leştirilmiştir. Görüşmecilerin yaş ortalaması­nın 67 olduğu çalışmada, görüşmecilerden ya­şam hikâyeleri dışında ağırlıklı olarak 1970 yı­lında gerçekleşen deprem ve sonrasında ya­şananların anlatılması istenmiştir. Bunlara ek olarak yerleşmenin taşınma süreci, görüşme­cilerin bunu nasıl öğrendikleri, neler hissettik­leri, yeni yerleşmedeki yeni konutlarına hangi koşullarda sahip oldukları ve iki yerleşme arasındaki yaşam koşulları karşılaştırması, Eskigediz ile ilişkileri gibi konularda bilgi toplan­mıştır.Bu makalede görüşmeci profili, görüşmecile­rin anılarından derlenen deprem anı, sonrasın­daki yaşam ve taşınma süreci ile ilgili olarak anımsanan ortak konular ile görüşmecilerin gözünden iki yerleşme arasındaki mekânsal ve sosyal farklılıklara ilişkin saptamalar sunu­lacaktır.Bu kapsamda ilk kez gerçekleşen bu çalış­mayla, afet sonrası iyileştirme rehabilitasyon çalışmaları, afet sonrası yeni yerleşim alanları için yer seçimi ve bu tür alanlarda değişen mekânsal düzen ile ortaya çıkan sosyal sorun­ların ele alınıp çözülmesi ve yerleşmenin ta­şınması durumunda mekânsal tasarımda dik­kat edilmesi gerekli ilkeler gibi konulara ışık tutulması amaçlanmaktadır.The oral history documentation project was conducted in Eskigediz by Turkish Academy of Sciences - Turkey's Cultural Sector TÜBATÜKSEK in 2005. The project was focused mainly on the "consequences of the catas¬ trophic earthquake that took place in Gediz Kütahya in 1970 and led to the geograghical re-location of the community to a new settle¬ ment area". Thirty people were interviewed about the subject. Interviewees whose average age was 67 and had experienced the earthquake were targeted to give their accounts of events in 1970 and afterwards. In addition to this, they were asked to describe the process of moving the settlement, how they learnt about the relocation decision, their feelings on this subject, how they mdwed to their new houses in the new settlement area, how they compared living conditions in the past and new settlements, and their relations with the former settlement of Eskigediz. The project was targeted to provide informa¬ tion and insight that would help to foresee vi¬ tal issues concerning rehabilitation after ca¬ tastrophic events, by examining the physical character of relocation areas and social prob¬ lems related to changed conditions encoun¬ tered by those moving to new settlements.
