Faced with the development of emerging digital technologies and products in recent years, digital transformation became an important issue for enterprises to improve the operational efficiency of enterprises, customer satisfaction and construct new business models. Generally speaking, companies must understand the capabilities of the digital transformation before they can make a specific strategy for digital transformation. The maturity model is an effective tool for evaluating the digital capabilities of enterprises. However, the maturity evaluation of digital capabilities must consider multiple experts and influencing factors in the evaluation process. Because the subjective opinions of experts always are fuzziness and uncertainties, it is reasonable for experts to use the linguistic variables to express their opinions. Experts use the hesitant fuzzy linguistic variables can be flexible to describe their subjective opinions. Therefore, this paper constructed a digital capability maturity assessment model based on hesitant fuzzy linguistic variables. Based on the hesitant fuzzy linguistic variables, we proposed a linguistic decision-making method in this paper to deal with digital capability maturity evaluation problem. Finally, an example will be implemented to illustrate the computational process to enhance the practical value of the proposed model. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
