    ABSTRACT: The provisions regarding agents are regulated by the Article 102 and 123 of the Turkish Commercial Law. While these regulations contain detailed provisions about the rights and obligations of commercial agencies, there are no regulations regarding the definition of commercial agency agreement and the rights and obligations of the principal arising from the agreement. However, as commercial agency agreement imposes obligations on both parties, the receivable of commercial agent constitutes the debt of principal, and the debt of commercial agent constitutes the receivable of agent. Therefore, the topic of our study is the rights and obligations of agent. In our study which consists of four sections; we reviewed the Supreme Court decisions and doctrine opinions in accordance with the EU Council Directive 86/653/EEC on the coordination of the laws of the Member States relating to Self- Employed Commercial Agents. In the first section of our study, we provided the definition of commercial agency, elements of agent, types of agents and information about the legal nature of commercial agency agreement. In this section, we also reviewed the differences between commercial agency agreement and similar legal relationships. In the second and third section, we reviewed the rights, authorizations and obligations of agent arising from agency agreement. In the fourth section, we reviewed and explained the termination of commercial agency agreement and each of the legal consequences arising from the termination of commercial agency agreement.
