19-65 yaş grubu yetişkin bireylerin öğün sayısı, fiziksel aktivite düzeyi ve uyku düzeylerinin antropometrik ölçümlere olan etkisinin incelenmesi
(İstanbul Bilgi Üniversitesi, 2019) Saatci, Merve; Demirel, Birsen
Obesity is a growing health problem both globally and in Turkey. Recent research suggests that the frequency of meals, sleep patterns and physical activity levels may be among the factors affecting the development of obesity. The study included 50 adult patients aged between 19-65 years, who were admitted to the Turkish Heart Foundation in Şişli, İstanbul region between April 2018 and March 2019, who had no health problems and who did not have diet in the last year. In this study, it was aimed to investigate the effect of number of meals, physical activity level and sleep levels on anthropometric measurements. R Studio Data Software program was used to analyze the data. According to the results of the study, a negative correlation was found between the number of meals and body mass index (BMI), the fat free mass (%), the fat free mass (kg) (r =-0,059, r = 0,226, r =-0,138, respectively). However, it was found that these relations did not have statistical significance. Negative correlation between sleep quality with BKI and body fat percentages (r= 0,165, p=0,253; r = -0,342, p = 0,015) determined according to Pittsburg Quality Index of individuals, between average night sleep (h) and hip circumference (cm) (r = -0,190; p = 0,187); positive correlation between Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index and fat free mass percentage (r = 0,225; p = 0,116), between the score of the physical activity questionnaire and the percentage of fat free mass (r = 0,257; p = 0,072) were found. There are many studies that show that low number of meals, short sleep duration and inadequate physical activity levels are among the risk factors for obesity. In this study, it’s determined that more scientific studies are needed to investigate and better understand the formation pathways of obesity.
