Öğe A study on online EFL instructors’ teaching satisfaction during pandemic(Journal of Computer and Education Research, 2021) Ece, EsraABSTRACT: In 2020, institutions had to shift to online education because of the health issues raised globally. Since online education is a complex process, the needs and expectations of instructors also show differences. However, the number of studies focused on English language instructors’ job satisfaction is limited. Therefore, this study aims to find out online instructors’ job satisfaction related to gender, years of teaching experience and the highest educational degree (bachelor, master’s, and doctorate) variables. The sample consists of 218 participants who were selected according to purposive sampling. This study has a quantitative research design. Accordingly, “The Online Instructor Satisfaction Measure-OISM” developed by Bolliger et al. (2014) was used to collect quantitative data. Additionally, factor analysis, internal consistency reliability and normality tests, independent sample t-test, and one-way ANOVA tests were conducted for data analysis. The findings revealed that the mean level of online instructors’ job satisfaction was 89.04. Besides, there were some differences related to gender and the highest educational degree in subscale level.Öğe Exploring pre-service and novice EFL teachers’ intercultural sensitivity(Novitas-Royal, 2021-04-16) Ece, EsraABSTRACT: : One of the advantages of teaching culture is to display different cultural frames to develop language awareness and pragmatic usage. Culture is a phenomenon to be searched deeply in terms of English language teaching on the grounds of a scarce number of studies on it. Accordingly, this study examines pre-service and novice EFL teachers’ perception of teaching “culture” and its instructional effect on multicultural settings. Accordingly, a 24-item intercultural sensitivity questionnaire developed by Chen and Starosta (2000) was used. Besides, interview and focus group sessions were carried out for the triangulation of the data. In the findings, it is concluded that participants who know more than two languages had more confidence in intercultural interaction. Besides, it was put forward that experience has a positive role in cultivating intercultural sensitivity. It was also recognized that novice English teachers are highly motivated to integrate intercultural elements into language teaching. Additionally, some suggestions, including culture-specific activities, informative multicultural materials, and methods have been provided.Öğe A Study on Online EFL Instructors’ Teaching Satisfaction during Pandemic(2021) Ece, Esra; Kazazoğlu, SeminIn 2020, institutions had to shift to online education because of the health issues raised globally.
