    Cultural Bridges and Flows: African Artist of Istanbul

    This thesis investigates the place of Istanbul in the international immigrationtraffıc by focusing on the African artists, who live in the city. The problems ofstrangers who settle to Istanbul permanently or temporarily are discussedtogether with the relation ofthese problems to the new regulations onimmigration which are adopted by the Turkish state according to EU standardsand the general attitude ofpeople of Turkey towards the immigrants arequestioned. Later, by focusing on the experiences of the African artists who livein Istanbul, an analysis is suggested in order to transform the problems of themigratian traffic which enables the encounter of different cultures into anadvantage, by which the cultural diversity can be celebrated.
