dc.description.abstract | Research in management studies have shown that employees' skill level and will to work are important elements in organizational performance. Hospitals are labor-intensive organizations employing individuals from a number of professions in order to supply health services the society demands. Hospitals' labor-intensive structure causes the success of a hospital to depend on the performance of the individuals. It is necessary to determine the expectations of the members of various professions to be able to successfully motivate hospital employees. This study aims to determine the factors affecting the job satisfaction of various profession groups working in hospitals. A survey to this end has been applied to all employees of two public hospitals in Istanbul the 331 usable surveys obtained have been statistically analyzed using SPSS 16 statistical software package. Factors affecting the job satisfaction of hospital employees have been classified using principal components analysis. Multiple linear regression analyses show that factors affecting job satisfaction of doctors, nurses and support staff are significantly different. Another finding suggests that expectations of those working in managerial and in non-managerial positions are significantly different. The findings also indicate that work experience level, education level and gender also play a significant role on job satisfaction. | en_US |
