| dc.description.abstract | Aviation supports global trade and tourism, driving economic growth, and employment. It has direct, indirect, and induced economic impacts, with airlines boosting tourism and affecting destinations socially, culturally, and economically. Connectivity in aviation fosters new tourist destinations, with low-cost carriers (LCCs) enabling affordable international travel, expanding opportunities for many. This has led to social and economic benefits for major LCC hubs, including business growth, employment, and urbanization. However, tourism poses environmental challenges, such as energy consumption and emissions. Sustainable tourism aims to minimize negative impacts, with aviation addressing its footprint via fuel efficiency, sustainable aviation fuels (SAF), and eco-friendly innovations.
