Türkiye has achieved notable progress in sectors such as defense, fintech, gaming, and e-commerce, supported by government-led initiatives and targeted policy shifts. However, challenges persist due to regulatory volatility, limited private sector capacity for market-driven innovation, and the absence of a coherent dual-use strategy. The shifting global order with intensifying binary alignments complicates Türkiye’s efforts to balance relations with major powers while attracting high-value technology investments. The article argues that Türkiye’s technological ambitions depend on long-term commitments to R&D, talent retention, and international collaboration, beyond mere strategic positioning. © 2026 selection and editorial matter, J.
