The ever changing and improving media play a critical role in the maintenance of the rituals. Martyr funerals as social phenomena are of particular importance since they are regarded as national tragedies and draw an immense participation. As for the media’s treatment of these funerals, it is only natural to say that the reporting is in unique fashion and form; hence only the application of media rituals theory in analysis can deepen the understanding of this news coverage. Even though an existing ritual is being reported and it is news coverage, the news making process, editing and presentation changes the nature of the ceremony and creates its own ritual.
