Öğe Energy Security in the Broader Mediterranean(Routledge Journals, Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2008) Winrow, Gareth M.This article examines the evolving relationship in the energy field between states north and south of the Mediterranean. The focus is on energy security, with North African energy producers eager to export their hydrocarbons to European consumers, and EU member states keen to diversify their energy suppliers, and, in particular, avoid overdependence on Russia for natural gas imports. There are separate discussions on trade in crude oil, natural gas and liquefied natural gas. Concerns over terrorist attacks on energy infrastructure and the heightened interest of NATO on issues of energy security in the Mediterranean are also examined.Öğe Soviet eastern policy and Turkey, 1920-1991: Soviet foreign policy, Turkey and communism(Amer Assoc Advancement Slavic Studies, 2007) Winrow, Gareth M.[Abstract Not Available]Öğe The Anatomy of a Possible Pipeline: The Case of Turkey and Leviathan and Gas Politics in the Eastern Mediterranean(Routledge Journals, Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2016) Winrow, Gareth M.This article examines the impact of the discovery of gas reserves in the eastern Mediterranean on Turkey's energy policy by focusing on the prospects for constructing a pipeline from Israel's offshore Leviathan gas field to the Turkish mainland and Europe. The production, transportation and sale of gas cannot be studied in isolation from domestic and regional politics. The commercial feasibility of the proposed Leviathan pipeline is considered, taking into account regulatory complications. Relations between Turkey as a gas market, transit state and possible energy hub, and Israel and the Republic of Cyprus as local gas producers are discussed. In effect, the anatomy of the proposed Leviathan gas pipeline is explored from its conception to the various stages of the project's possible development.Öğe Turkey: Energy Security and Central Asia: The Politics and Economics of the So-called Great Game(Springer-Verlag Berlin, 2009) Winrow, Gareth M.[Abstract Not Available]
